Stress Awareness Month 2026
Stress Awareness Month 2026 is an annual campaign held every April to raise understanding of stress and how it affects our mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. Organised by the Stress Management Society, it encourages people to recognise the signs of stress and take practical steps to manage it. The 2026 theme, #BeTheChange, shifts the focus from simply being aware of stress to actively doing something about it—both for yourself and for others.
The campaign highlights that small, consistent actions can make a meaningful difference. By building self-awareness, adopting healthier coping strategies, and supporting those around us, individuals can reduce stress and help create more positive, resilient communities. It also emphasises the importance of open conversations to reduce stigma and make stress a shared, manageable experience rather than something faced alone.
- Take a few minutes each day to check in with how you’re feeling
- Build small habits like walking, stretching, or mindful breathing
- Talk openly about stress with friends, family, or colleagues
- Practice kindness and support toward others who may be struggling
- Set realistic goals and boundaries to avoid overwhelm
- Reduce stress triggers where possible (e.g. workload, screen time)
- Do something regularly that helps you relax and recharge
- Share experiences or tips using #BeTheChange to encourage others
- Make time for rest, sleep, and recovery
- Seek professional help or resources if stress becomes unmanageable
