Irish Cancer Society - LACES Workshop

The Irish Cancer Society delivers an education workshop called Life and Cancer – Enhancing Survivorship (LACES) as part of our education programme offering.

Who is this workshop for?

This service supports adult patients who have finished treatment* or are settled into maintenance therapy and living well with advanced cancer.

*Treatment includes surgery, radiotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy and chemotherapy. Patients are advised to attend this independently.

What will you learn in this workshop?

Attending this workshop allows patients to access quality information on topics such as diet, exercise, wellbeing, finance, self-management and signposts you to supports to empower and enhance your quality of life.

How is education provided?

LACES is a workshop facilitated by specialist cancer nurses from the Irish Cancer Society. Topics are addressed using video followed by discussions where questions can be answered. Participants can attend either on-line or in-person as part of a group.

When is this available?

We hold an on-line session each Tuesday morning. We have not started the in-person sessions at this time.

Do I need to attend more than once?

The workshop is a once-off education session.

Where is the training carried out?

LACES is on-line at the moment, in-person group sessions will commence at the discretion of individual hospitals in line with public health restrictions.

How do I make a referral to the Patient Education service?

Speak with your clinical nurse specialist who can make a referral to the Daffodil Centre or to our Patient Education (PE) service.
