Positive Life NI - Positive Peers
Peer support is when people come together to share knowledge and personal experiences. The aim is to help others who are newly diagnosed, or who are still coming to terms with their diagnosis, feel less isolated.
The “Positive Peers” programme helps facilitate communication between people who have been diagnosed for a while and who have a wealth of experience that they are willing to share with others who are just starting out on what can often be a confusing and lonely journey following an HIV diagnosis.
Positive Peers are fully trained and provide support in group settings or on a one to one basis. By sharing their own personal experiences and offering practical support, they help others find their own path through what can be a difficult time.
