Domestic and Sexual Violence and Abuse Training
To mark the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence campaign which runs from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) until 10 December (International Human Rights Day) we are providing staff an opportunity to avail of Domestic and Sexual Violence and Abuse Training on Monday 28th November at 4.00pm - 5.30pm
The training will be delivered by Women's Aid NI and will inform the audience of the extent of domestic & sexual violence & abuse in Northern Ireland, setting the scene locally and putting in context what is meant by domestic abuse including:
• Background: Setting the scene
• Issues for participants: Fears and expectations
• Beliefs and Attitudes about domestic & sexual violence
• The impact on those living with abuse
• Impact on children and young people
• An update on current and proposed legislation within NI will be covered including the new offence of coercive control
• Know ‘pathways to support’ – referral to local services available to victims/survivors of domestic and sexual abuse/violence in order to increase their safety
• Resourcing
