The Sleep Charity - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy For Insomnia

We are delighted to be able to offer the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) course in partnership with sleep expert Professor Jason Ellis, professor of Sleep Science at Northumbria University and director of the Northumbria Centre for Sleep Research.

Endorsed by the European Sleep Research Society, this introductory course is aimed at registered health professionals with a good standing in their field of expertise (e.g. HCPC), who have an interest in psychological sleep interventions and want to identify, assess, and diagnose cases of insomnia, and with peer supervision, manage cases using the principles of CBT-I within their practice.

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that makes it hard to fall asleep, stay asleep or causes you to wake too early and not be able to go back to sleep. This occurs despite having adequate opportunity for sleep and causes daytime distress or impairment. With up to 40% of the population reporting insomnia symptoms and between 10-15% of individuals meeting criteria for Insomnia Disorder, the direct and indirect costs of Insomnia Disorder are extensive. Insomnia Disorder is a public health burden and the consequences can be seen at individual, family, community and societal levels.
