Cain Thomson
Hi there,
My name is Cain and I work in the Environmental and Fire Risk Compliance Service. I have worked here since April 2022, and it is my first job within the EA. I came to the EA after doing my Master’s in International Commercial Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. I am also an accredited Mediator with the Civil Mediation Council. I have always had a keen interest in Health and Wellbeing, especially using exercise as a way to mentally recharge as well as improve myself from a physical wellbeing perspective. Looking after my own Health and Wellbeing became very important to me in 2018 when I embarked on my university journey studying Law. With this degree came lots of long hours and plenty of stress, and in 2020 my degree moved to online teaching as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was at this time that it became vitally important to regularly practice checking in on myself and my own wellbeing, as I could no longer rely on a busy social life to unwind.
My favourite thing to do is go for long walks on the beach with my Labrador Buzz (…as in Lightyear), whilst listening to a podcast and enjoying my own space. Other interests of mine include spending time with my 4 nieces, going to the gym, yoga, pilates, and going out with my friends.
I joined the Champions Network to help spread the word amongst my team and others, about the importance of self-awareness, self-care, and self-reflection. I hope that by being part of the champions network, I encourage other members of my team to get involved with the Health and Wellbeing network and improve the overall mood and enthusiasm of the service!
