Shirley McAuley
I am a Senior Teacher with the EA Literacy Service, based in Ballee, Ballymena. I have been with the EA (previously NEELB) for 20 years, and before that I was a SENCO and class teacher.
I have many hobbies to help me relax outside of work- I practise yoga daily (online with Erkhart yoga), walk in the beautiful Glens of Antrim where I live, swim in Cushendun bay every chance I get, work at my karate, read and read and read. I have also developed an addiction to crochet, which I started doing during lock down following You Tube tutorials and now every family member boasts a wonky, ill- fitting garment made lovingly by me. I love learning languages and am proud of my 1034 day streak in Duolingo.
Participating in the Wellbeing Champion initiative is important to me. Creating a caring, compassionate and safe workplace allows staff to enjoy being at work, to develop friendships with their colleagues and to thrive.
