The Rainbow Project - LGBT Affirmative Therapy

This training is available for free for groups of over ten individuals and for a small fee otherwise. We can facilitate this training at your place of business or at our offices in Belfast (21-23 Waring Street) and Foyle (20 Strand Road).

LGBT Affirmative Therapy Training aims to:

  • Educate on the lived experience and mental health of LGBT individuals, relationships and families in Northern Ireland.
  • Challenge and enlighten mental health professionals in Northern Ireland through discussion and presentation of the very well researched and generally accepted concepts of internalised homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, the process of coming out with a sexually diverse identity and living with an LGBT identity.
  • Challenge misconceptions and educate so that professionals working therapeutically with LGBT clients can offer the best possible service.

This training is particularly useful to counsellors and therapists of all backgrounds. The training can also benefit Psychologists, Psychiatrists, GP’s and educators who also may work in a 1-to-1 format.
