Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity.

Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.

International Yoga Day 2022 theme is “Yoga for well-being”. All the world is passing through COVID-19 pandemic and almost every country has imposed lockdown in a certain form. In this situation, it is hard or impossible for people to remain mentally and physically fit and healthy.

People are suffering from anxiety and depression even if the lockdown is getting softer in some parts of the world. Despite that the lockdown gets lighter, the World Health Organization (WHO) reports reveal that Coronavirus won’t spare the world for many years.

International Day of Yoga theme focuses upon telling people to stay motivated at home and adopt a healthy lifestyle by doing exercise and yoga.
