Domestic and Sexual Violence and Abuse
Earlier this year the Health and Wellbeing Team arranged training sessions for staff on Domestic and Sexual Violence and Abuse, delivered by Women's Aid NI.
A recording is now available of the session held in March 2022. These sessions inform the audience of the extent of domestic & sexual violence & abuse in Northern Ireland, setting the scene locally and putting in context what is meant by domestic abuse including:
• Background: Setting the scene
• Issues for participants: Fears and expectations
• Beliefs and Attitudes about domestic & sexual violence
• The impact on those living with abuse
• Impact on children and young people
• An update on current and proposed legislation within NI will be covered including the new offence of coercive control
• Know ‘pathways to support’ – referral to local services available to victims/survivors of domestic and sexual abuse/violence in order to increase their safety
• Resourcing
