World Password Day
Still using your cat’s name followed by an “&” for your online account password? Sorry, but that’s just not enough to protect your life savings in 2024.
Each year on the first Thursday in May, World Password Day promotes better password habits. Passwords are critical gatekeepers to our digital identities, allowing us to access online shopping, dating, banking, social media, private work, and life communications.
Password security isn’t just something you can ignore – it’s essential to protect your online accounts, and ultimately, your identity from being stolen.
You can check how strong your passwords are by going to https://www.security.org/how-secure-is-my-password It will also tell you how quickly it would take to access your details.
You can also use a random password generator.
Strong passwords have
- Alphanumeric Characters (a combination of letters and numbers)
- At least one upper case letter (Capital letter e.g. A)
- At least one lower case letter (e.g. a)
- A minimum of 1 number
- A minimum of one special character (e.g. # ? @ !)
