Safer Steps
25th November 2024 marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls. This leads into 16 days of Global Activism against Gender-based Violence - 16 Days of Activism - UN Women UK
Our Parks and Open Spaces Development Team recognises the importance of women and girls accessing and enjoying our Blue and Green Spaces. We are hosting 3 walks (in partnership with PSNI) during this time to address female safety when using our Outdoor Spaces:
- SAFER STEPS BALLYMENA. Tuesday 3rd Dec - 7pm – Peoples Park, Ballymena.
- SAFER STEPS CARRICKFERGUS. Wednesday 4th Dec - 7pm – Amphitheatre, Carrickfergus.
- SAFER STEPS LARNE. Thursday 5th Dec - 7pm – Dixon Park, Larne.
These sessions are an opportunity to head out for a moonlit walk with like-minded women. We will be joined by Local Neighbourhood Officer who will be sharing personal safety advice and answering any questions you may have. Tea and Coffee will be provided after the walk to warm up!
The walks are free, but booking is essential. You can book your spot on MEA Outdoors Eventbrite page - https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/safer-steps-3842853
