Compassionate Conversations with AMH – Thursday 12th March 2026

Join Action Mental Health for this face-to-face training course which will enable attendees to have compassionate and supportive conversations about mental health with colleagues, clients and others. The course builds attendees’ understanding of common mental health problems and uses interactive activities to develop skills that will support both themselves and others.

Small group activities and role-plays provide a unique opportunity to learn and practice skills such as active listening, affirmation and reflective phrasing. The course also builds an understanding of how to compassionately and safely signpost those in need to available internal and external support services.

The course will include:-

  • Understanding Mental Health and Common Mental Health Issues
  • Compassionate conversation skills
  • Introduction to the LASS Model (Listen, Ask, Support, Signpost)
  • Duty of care – staying mentally healthy
  • Signposting and Support

This course will not:-

  • Enable you to diagnose people
  • Make you a counsellor or enable you to counsel people
