World Stroke Day - 29 October
World Stroke Day is observed every year on October 29 to raise global awareness about stroke — To educate people about stroke risk factors, symptoms, and the need for quick action when someone shows signs of a stroke.
Organised by The World Stroke Organization (WSO). Each year, there’s a theme highlighting a specific aspect of stroke awareness (for example, past themes have focused on prevention, recovery, or support for survivors).
1 in 4 of us will have a stroke in our lifetime. Knowing more about prevention and symptoms of stroke could save millions of lives, including yours.
The theme for 2025 is Every Minute Counts, with public-facing messaging focused on helping people everywhere recognize the signs of stroke and the urgent need to #ActFAST
Common warning signs (remember FAST):
Face drooping
Arm weakness
Speech difficulty
Time to call emergency services immediately
