Nicotine Mouth Spray
A nicotine mouth spray quickly releases nicotine into your body. Use 1 to 2 sprays when you feel the urge to smoke. Each spray provides 1mg of nicotine.
This is a fast-acting form of NRT that can be used in combination with nicotine patches. These products can vary so talk to your pharmacist for advice on which one is best for you.
How to use a nicotine mouth spray
Point the spray nozzle towards your open mouth. Hold it as close to your mouth as possible.
Press the top of the container to release 1 to 2 sprays into the side of your mouth, avoiding your lips. To avoid getting the spray down your throat, don’t inhale while spraying. Don’t swallow for a few seconds after spraying.
If you’re not sure how to use the spray, ask your pharmacist to show you. You can use up to 4 sprays an hour, but don't use more than 64 sprays a day.
When to stop using a nicotine mouth spray
Stop using your nicotine mouth spray when you are down to only using 2 to 4 sprays a day. Do not use the spray for longer than 6 months. If you are finding it hard to cut down, talk to your stop smoking advisor, pharmacist or GP. You can call the Quitline for advice on 1800 201 203.
