Pancreatic Cancer Awareness

Cancer

While the month of November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, the 18th November is World Pancreatic Cancer Day where people accross the globe come together to raise awareness about the symptoms and risks of the disease, and the urgent need for earlier detection.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer die within three months.

Pancreatic Cancer is the 5th biggest Cancer killer in the UK and has the lowest survival of all common Cancers. Early diagnosis is crucial to improve survival outcomes for people with Pancreatic Cancer, however most people with Pancreatic Cancer are diagnosed at a late stage.

Surgery is the only treatment with curative intent for Pancreatic Cancer although, 3 in 5 people are diagnosed at a late stage where potentially curative surgery is not possible.
