The Education Authority are delighted to partner with the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service in the hope to make it more accessible for EA staff to donate blood.

Blood donation is vitally important for proper delivery of health care. Blood transfusion is life saving and life enhancing. 500 patients use blood donations every week, yet only 6% of the eligible population donate blood.

With new blood donors needed now more than ever, we aspire to empower EA staff to ‘Give Back’ and donate blood at various EA locations.

To enable this to take place and to make our EA venues viable we are required to provide NI Blood Transfusion Service with over 150 potential donors throughout various locations.

For anyone who has never previously donated blood or those of you who haven’t donated in a long time, you can text BLOOD EA to 60081. This will go towards our total figure where NIBTS will gauge whether setting up new venues within EA will be feasible. Existing donors are more than welcome to attend blood donation events if we can arrange this, but we do not require those of you who regularly give blood to text the above number.

We are also delighted to welcome NIBTS as a new community partner on HealthWell where they will be uploading key information and provide their contact details regarding anything related to blood donation.
