For Family Safety Week (30 March to 3 April), The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) are spearheading a campaign Accident Free, Avoid A&E

This year, Family Safety Week is taking place in the face of unprecedented circumstances.

As the Government and NHS fight the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, we are each having to do our part by staying away from our loved ones. And this is posing new, unusual and difficult challenges for everyone in the UK.

Children are off school, parents are working remotely, older and vulnerable people are confined in isolation, and the amount of time everyone can spend outdoors is limited.

Unfortunately, more accidents happen at home than anywhere else, with an average of 6,000 accidental deaths every year. And while our amazing NHS and frontline health workers are tackling this awful virus, we must all do our bit to help them in their fight, by staying out of A & E.

So this Family Safety Week, we are doing our bit by helping people do just that – stay out of hospital.

The Accident Free, Avoid A & E campaign will provide everyone with the practical resources, hints and tips they need to understand what risks they and their loved ones are facing in their new daily lives, and how to overcome them.
