Fundraising Coffee Morning for Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes

Diabetes

Huge thanks to everyone in the EA Armagh office who came along and supported the fundraising coffee morning on Monday 3rd March for Breakthrough T1D, a charity supporting Children with Type1 Diabetes - https://breakthrought1d.org.uk/.

This charity supports children who have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes through research and helping the children at hospital through giving them a rucksack. The free KIDSAC (rucksack) helps parents and their children to deal with their diagnosis.

Along with information leaflets, it also contains Rufus, the bear with type 1 diabetes with felt-patches on his test and injection sites.

The coffee morning was organised by Stuart Lee and colleagues from the EA Assurance Team and the pack that the charity provide has really helped Stuart’s daughter, Robyn, when she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 5. Stuart was able to spot the signs of extreme thirst, weight loss and frequently urinating. Robyn went into Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and was hospitalised for nearly a week to get blood sugars under control.

Below is a link to some of the symptoms to look out for from the Breakthrough T1D website : -

On the morning itself we raised £409.70, this will go a long way for all children who receive this diagnosis.

Donations will still be accepted up until Friday 14th March. Contact Stuart Lee if you wish to make a donation.
