Living With Diabetes: Simple Food Switches

Diabetes

Tasty doesn’t have to mean unhealthy – especially these days. If you are managing your diabetes there are lots of easy ways to cut down on sugar, saturated fat and salt to help your healthy, balanced diet.

This doesn’t mean following special diabetic recipes, going sugar free or low carb to manage your diabetes. A few simple smart swaps can make your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks a lot healthier – without skimping on flavour.

This could be as simple as having skimmed or semi-skimmed milk, choosing lean cuts of meat, and swapping saturated fats like butter, ghee and lard for unsaturated fats and oils like rapeseed, sunflower or olive oils.

There are plenty of recipes on the Enjoy Food recipe finder, which we’re sure your family and friends will love, whether or not they have diabetes.
