As the weather begins to change and winter draws nearer, consumers may have started to consider purchasing oil in preparation for the colder months.

Oil prices are regularly changing and in order to help consumers decide on the best price for their home heating oil, we have a Home Heating Oil Price Checker.

Every week, we survey suppliers across Northern Ireland to benchmark prices on the cost of oil. The checker provides the average fuel price for 300L, 500L and 900L across Northern Ireland and for each council area.

You can select your council area and find the different suppliers which deliver to that location. By shopping around, you may be able to save money by finding a better deal. To get the best value, we recommend:

• Using our Home Heating Oil Tool to ensure the best price.
• Buying the largest amount you can afford, the larger the refill you buy, the less you pay per litre of heating oil.
• Avoid using emergency oil drums. A 20 litre emergency drum could cost twice as much per litre than the cost of the average oil refill.
• Regularly check how much oil you have left to avoid suddenly running out.
