Prepare for autumn to help cut down energy bills

Savings / Energy

Get ready for autumn by improving your energy efficiency. Take steps that keep your home comfortable while keeping energy costs low.

Top tips you can use to reduce your autumn energy bills:

  • Use our free, impartial energy price comparison tools. Compare gas and electricity prices, shop around for a cheaper energy supplier.

  • Service your oil and gas boiler to help make it run more efficiently by booking in a qualified OFTEC or Gas Safe engineer.

  • Change to LED Lights. LED lights use significantly less energy than traditional bulbs. Only turn on the lights you need and turn lights off when leaving a room.

  • Don’t leave your appliances on standby! Turn off non-essential appliances like your TVs, computers, and game consoles. You can save around £55 a year.

  • Turn your thermostat down by 1°C. Set your thermostat to a lower temperature when you're not home and during the night. This can save on heating costs without significant comfort loss.
