Join in on Sustrans' Active Travel Challenge?

Get Fit

This year’s Active Travel Challenge runs from the 1st June – 30th June 2019.

Translink, Sustrans, the Public Health Agency and the Department for Infrastructure have joined forces to encourage employers to support staff to leave the car at home and walk, cycle or take public transport for journeys to, from and during work.  Once signed up, participants log their ‘active travel’ journeys online and compete with colleagues and other companies to see who makes the most journeys.

There will be focus themes for each of the four weeks, however all modes of journeys will count throughout.

  • Week 1 – Bus and Train Week (Mon 3rd – 9th June)

  • Week 2 – Bike Week (10th to 16th June)
  • Week 3 – Walking Week (17th to 23rd June)
  • Week 4 – Get Active Week (24th to 30th June)

Logging your journeys for work, leisure, commuting, or even running an errand all count as long as you ditch the car and use public transport or an active means of your own!

Each week of the month will have a different ‘active travel’ theme with a range of prizes and incentives up for grabs to motivate employees to join the challenge.

Around one-third of all journeys we make every day are less than two miles, this is a distance that could be walked or cycled.  A further one-third of journeys are less than five miles, meaning one small change can make a big difference. Why not challenge yourself to get active and start enjoying the benefits?

Challenge registration is FREE and there is a range of fantastic prizes up for grabs including shopping vouchers, sports watches and Translink tickets.
