Upcoming NILGOSC Pension Information Sessions – February 2026
Managing Your Money / Pensions and RetirementDuring February 2026 Nilgosc are running a number of pension information sessions for LGPS (NI) members. Each session will last approximately 90 minutes including time for questions at the end.
The three dates and topics are:
- Wednesday, 18th February from 15:00 to 16:30 - Pension Awareness
- Thursday, 19th February from 10:00 to 11:30 - Scheme Benefits
- Friday, 20th February from 10:00 to 11:30 - Approaching Retirement
Pensions Awareness
Wednesday 18 February at 15:00 – 16:30

This seminar is a high-level overview of the current LGPS (NI) Career Average (CARE) Scheme. It is suitable for employees with membership in the Scheme after 1st April 2015, including employees who have joined recently. It is also helpful for employees who have opted out, but who may wish to know more about the Scheme. The session will explain the main Scheme benefits, contributions (including Additional Voluntary Contributions /Additional Pension Contributions), transfers and aggregating other pensions. There will also be a demonstration of how to access My NILGOSC Pension Online to keep track of your NILGOSC pension and to plan for future retirement.

This seminar is a detailed overview for future retirement planning, including membership of the Final Salary Schemes before April 2015. This session will cover the use of Additional Voluntary Contributions and Additional Pension Contributions to boost pension savings, the different types of retirement, and will also cover what options are available if you leave the pension scheme before retirement. There will also be a demonstration of how to access My NILGOSC Pension Online to keep track of your NILGOSC pension and to plan for future retirement.
Approaching Retirement
Friday 20 February at 10:00 – 11:30

This seminar is aimed at employees who may be thinking of retiring in the next few years. It will cover the different types of retirement, how benefits are calculated, and the retirement process. It will also include a demonstration of My NILGOSC Pension Online and how to tailor your own pension projections.
These sessions will be run as Microsoft Teams events. Members can register by clicking on the relevant link above, or via our website: Training & events - NILGOSC. The calendar invite is issued automatically as soon as the member has registered. If they do not receive it, they should check that they have used the correct email address. If they have used the correct email address, and still have not received the calendar invite, they should check that their IT settings have not filtered the invitation email to their junk/spam mailbox.
