When it comes to finding the perfect walk for a spontaneous date day with your other half we have you covered! Whether you are looking for the perfect views to set the scene for a proposal or just to escape the everyday routine of life there is something for everyone.

Drumkeeragh Forest Park – Viewpoint Trail

Nestled in the foothills of Slieve Croob close to the Mourne Mountains walkers to this forest are in for a treat when it comes to the range of viewpoints on offer boasting spectacular views. This is a 4.3 mile circular trail. A shorter 1.4 mile treetop trail is also worth exploring for those with less time to explore.

Divis Ridge Trail

While lots of people head to Cave Hill we suggest viewing Belfast from a different perspective. The 4 mile circular Divis Ridge Trail allows you to take in spectacular 180 degree views across the city and further afield including the Antrim Plateau to the north, Scotland to the east and the Mourne Mountains to the south. We suggest packing a picnic to enjoy at the viewpoint!

Belmore Forest – Pollnagollum Cave Walk

What is more romantic than a walk to a waterfall! This 3.7 mile circular walk is located in the Boho-Belmore Mountain area, right in the heart of Fermanagh’s cave country. Beneath you feed lies an extensive maze of caves which attract cavers and potholers from far and wide to west Fermanagh. You may even be lucky enough to spot an Irish hare rushing across the Belmore uplands.

Aughrim Hill Wood

Situated in the heartland of the Mourne Mountains, this walk is a new community trail to have been launched by Newry Mourne and Down District Council. Transforming bar hillside with no tree cover to a habitat with over 110,000 native trees. In total the new woodland habitat stretches to 60 hectares. There are a few options for routes to choose from so you can see Co. Down from lots of different angles.

Florence Court

For those who are fans of the hit TV series Bridgerton a trip to Florence Court will have you feeling like you have stepped into the film set about to attend a grand ball! With lots of trails to explore the choice is yours! We suggest packing a picnic to enjoy on the lawn in front of Florence Court House.

Ballyronan Wood Walk

A short 0.5 mile circular walk this beautiful woodland trail set within a small 5 acre wet woodland on the shores of Lough Neagh is the ideal stop on your romantic road trip. The area boasts a wealth of wildlife easily viewed from the woodland path, such as mute swan, whooper swan, bewick swan, great crested grebes and tufted duck.

Lough Fea

Set in wild mountain scenery, Lough Fea is one of the many delightful lakes dotted throughout the Sperrins Region. Covering 180 acres this natural beauty spot features a 2.5 mile boardwalk attracting walkers from near and far. A mix of panoramic scenery and calming waters make this the ideal place for an idyllic evening walk.

Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park

Roses just aren’t for Valentines day! Famous for it’s annual Rose Festival a visit to this park is a must this spring/summer. There are a number of trails to explore around the park each starting from the lower car park passing Wilmont House. The Meadow Trail is a fantastic walk to explore in the summer months with lots of orchids, speedwells, clovers and hayrattle. A cafe is available onsite for those short on time to pack a picnic!

Blue Lough

The perfect gentle introduction to hill walking for couples looking to reach new heights this year! This 3 mile circular walk provides an easy introduction to the Mountains of Mourne giving a mountain atmosphere whilst following gentle gradients and making use of distinct tracks and pathways. The Blue Lough provides a fine place to picnic. A short walk (600m) further along the track to the col or saddle between Slieve Binnian and Slieve Lamagan will provide a bird’s eye view of Ben Crom Dam and the mountain from which it takes its name.
