World Menopause Day - Tuesday 18th October 2022

The clock is ticking, and World Menopause Day is on its way!

  • 1 in 4 - will consider leaving their job due to menopause symptoms.
  • Every single one of your female colleagues will go through menopause.
  • 63% of women say their menopause symptoms have negatively impacted their work.

‘The change’, ‘the time of life’ – call it what you will, it is an unavoidable fact that all women go through the menopause. However, for many women this natural process is a time of anxiety and distress due to the various symptoms that can accompany it.

The following information developed by The Belfast HSC Trust to provide information and dispel myths around menopause is designed to enhance knowledge and provide support to deal with symptoms that accompany the Menopause, especially in the work setting.

1. Understanding the Menopause – A Guide for Managers

This seven minute video is designed to help line managers understand the symptoms and issues women face when managing the menopause. It also suggests potential actions managers can take to support their employees.

2. Managing Symptoms of the Menopause – A Guide for Women

This four minute video is designed to help women understand the potential symptoms of the menopause and encourages them to seek help from their line manager when needed.

This four minute video focuses on the pros and cons of HRT and Alternative Therapies.

5. EA Menopause Policy and Managers Toolkit

EA is committed to ensuring that all individuals are treated fairly and with dignity and respect in their working environment. It is also committed to ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all our colleagues. We understand that others may experience menopause-type symptoms, while we use the words woman/she/her throughout the document, this support is designed for all our colleagues.
