Quick and Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Healthy Diet

Studies have proven that having breakfast is essential to boost morning energy levels and focus. Those who skip breakfast are actually at an increased risk of developing obesity and endulging in high-energy and calorie dense foods throughout the day.

Here are some simple and healthy breakfast ideas:

  • Overnight oats with seeds and berries

This will take around 45 seconds to prepare the night before. All you have to do is, put 50g porridge oats in a bowl with 100ml of milk or water. Then, the next morning, add chopped berries, seeds or fruit and add some Greek yoghurt to your own taste. Porridge is a great food to lower levels of 'bad' cholesterol and combined with berries and seeds can offer a nutricious kick-start to your morning.

  • Baked avocados with eggs

Firstly, preheat your oven to around 200 degrees celsius / gas mark 6. Take the avocado and half it, then, pull out the stone, if the stone is small create a large hole in the centre for the egg. Once placed on the baking tray, crack a whole egg into the centre of the avocado and cook for around 15 minutes, add pepper and enjoy with some wholegrain toast. This breakfast contains healthy fats, protein, good cholesterol and everything you need to get your day off to a tasty start.

  • Almond butter on toast with bananas

Simply replace the regular butter from the supermarket on your wholegrain toast with almond butter. Almonds contain protein, magnesium and healthy fats that contribute to lowering cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Top this with some banana and you have added a good source of potassium which can help to lower blood pressure and of course added some sweetness to your breakfast too!
