Make 2025 Your Active Year
Get Fit / Healthy WeightNew Year’s Resolutions are great, but they come with baggage. This year at WalkNI, we’re working off a theme for the year – namely, to get more active. It doesn’t come with deadlines or great demands – just suggestions and positive benefits. Read on to find out how WalkNI.com can help make your 2025 a more active (and therefore, more healthy) one.
WalkNI.com is dedicated to getting people out walking. If that sounds good and you like the idea of making 2025 more active, then we have a few simple suggestions.
1. Pick your local
This will be your ‘go to’ walk. The one you head to when you have minimum brain power and just want to get out to clear your head. It might be a nearby park or a quiet community walk, though not necessarily the one closest to you. Whatever component of the outdoors you appreciate most (i.e. forest, hills, well lit routes) should feature predominantly in this walk as this is where you’ll be most throughout the year. Aim to get out to this walk a minimum of twice per week.
2. Pick a walk per week
This may sound daunting initially, but think of it as an exciting challenge. One day of the week – most likely the weekend – this will be a walk offering something a little different. Somewhere you haven’t visited as much, or have always wanted to see. This provides a bit more variation, meaning you’re likely to be more engaged whilst in the outdoors for these walks. Remember though, we’re working on a theme for the year – if you miss a few weeks, it’s no biggie. Just move the calendar slightly and get ready for your next outing!
3. Go for an adventure
This is the most exciting prospect of them all. A real life adventure. But what does that mean? Well, the great thing is, that’s entirely up to you! It could be taking part in several sections of the Ulster Way. It could be climbing a mountain once per month during the summer. It could be something as straightforward as doing the same walk, but seeing how many times you can walk it in a day. The point of this one is to really push yourself, as much as you’re comfortable with, in your pursuit of a more active lifestyle. You may surprise yourself by what you can achieve.
