Cuilcagh Mountain, Co.Fermanagh

Situated among Fermanagh’s well-known Lakelands, Cuilcagh Mountain – the county’s highest mountain - is a favourite among keen walkers who like a challenge. Not too far from the mountain also lies the impressive Marble Arch caves and beautiful Lough Erne.

Peatlands Park, Dungannon, Co Tyrone

The Peatlands Park in Dungannon offers visitors the chance to experience both peatland and woodland habitats and their varied wildlife. Relaxing walks, stunning scenery and a wilderness appeal make this the perfect winter trail.

Castle Ward Shore Trail, Downpatrick, Co. Down

Grab your hat and scarf and take a stroll along the shoreline at Castle Ward where you might just spot the birds which travel to Strangford Lough for the winter.  This walk can be taken at a leisurely pace while the kids explore the play areas.

Cave Hill Country Park, Belfast, Co. Antrim

If the idea of climbing Cuilcagh Mountain seems a bit daunting, then Cave Hill might provide a good alternative. The Belfast-based peak is a very achievable ascent and, once at the top, its views over the city will have you wanting to come back for more. Wrap up warm as the wind can be sharp at the top!

The Slieve Gullion Forest Park, Newry, Co. Armagh
